Ok friends, continuing with Hubpages for Dummies A to Z Part 1,

This Part 2 will help you know Hubpages to a higher level, from starting a new hub to its completion. I hope you will enjoy it.

Part 2 - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL ( H to U )

This is when you are ready to write a hub. If you are interested, you can straight away start one side by side & i think you will be ready to Publish a hub, by the time you end reading thi

After you click " Start a New Hub " 3 important things are asked :

1. Choose a Title : Explained next
2. Give you Hub a Web Address : Its mainly dependent on your hub title. A SEO'd (Search Engine Optimised) Title should have similar web address to tap good page rank or top position in SERP's (Search Engine Result Position's)
3. Add Some Tags : Tags are a way to organise information in your hub. Tags are like keywords & phrases that describe your Hub. Tags can be important for people using a search engine to find Internet material on topics. So add tags according to your content. The more tags & related content you hub contains, the more traffic will come to your hub, if those keywords/tags are highly searched for.

It is in fact the most important thing as this is what the readers will see before going ahead & reading your article. It is the one which grabs the most attention for a hub.

7 Rules to generally follow before Choosing a Title :

1. Title should be INTERESTING. The most important fact to fetch good traffic. BUT dont over-do to end up reader feeling frustated in finding related content & giving your hub "Thumbs Down".
2. Describe the content of your hub in title. Be clear & concise.
3. Do not use long tail titles. Anything >10 words is long for sure.
   
4. Select best keywords to write your hub content around for good search traffic.
5. Include keyword phrases in your title. Try it. Not difficult.
   
6. Do not use personal names , dates, etc till they are not significant to content or SEO.
7. Attention Grabbing Titles (AGT's) are the ones which which generally become popular.

Content is what makes body of a hub. Basic Content of the hub is what, in the end, will find you readers. Content is the soul of a hub .It needs to be oriented around the basic hub title you are writing. If you don't write good content, every other tip & trick associated will not work.

Yes it is.

♦ But i stress " QUALITY Content is the Emperor "

10 Important Facts to a Great Content :

1. Write Naturally about the things you are passionate about. Such a language & expression is always valued than framed ones.
2. Length of a hub should be around 800-1200 words. (generally) This is what is said to be researched to get reader interested till end. Lengthy hubs generally will make a reader lose interest & short ones rarely leave a impact on reader.
3. Present your content in as much Easy to read & Comprehensible format as you can. Readers love that. Use Images, Videos, Slideshows, where ever you can . Hubpage Capsules let arranging your content in these various forms. Good original content, if not properly presented to the reader, makes the reader skip it and move on elsewhere. , i consider this as one of the most important aspect.
4. Never Copy Content. That will mar hub's Search Engine rankings (SERP) along with bad hubscore. Unique content works the best.
5. Don't Repeat Content. Makes the reader lose interest & skip to next hub.
6. Write Quality Content. Quality simply means some authoritative content nicely formatted & put up. Something one can refer to regarding that topic.
7. SEO : Try incorporating important title & content related keywords/tags to an extend. Don't over do it. More about it in Part 3 - Advanced .
8. Try not to paste links within main para-graphic content. Put links up say at end of paragraph or whole text or in a link capsule. Links act as a way to divert your reader away.
9. Take Feed back from reader. This makes the reader engaged & interested into a good content hub. Poll Capsule is 1 great way of doing that.
10. Produce Quality Content > Get Big Traffic > Get Big Fans > Get Good Hub scores > Become respected hubber > Enjoy Hubbing :)

Click Continue & you will be on "Assemble you Capsules" page. This is where all the Hubbers frame a Hub.the so called "Work Place". HubPages interface is so good that formatting text, adding images, pictures, videos can be done in a snap with Capsules.

There are 2 types of capsules :

1. Content Capsules : Text, Photo, Video , Links, News, RSS, Comments & Poll
2. Revenue Capsules : Ebay & Amazon

• CAPSULES are the building blocks of the Hub.
• All kinds of content- Text, Photo, Video, etc requires a capsule.
• Can add as many capsules as you want, as many number of times.
• Can place any capsule anywhere on hub in many number of ways.

USING CAPSULES :

On the right column, top of page, you’ll see a box titled “Add More Capsules”. Click on any capsule. It will automatically be added to the bottom of page.

You can Edit or Move (arrows) or Delete a capsule using appropriate button on top of any capsule added.

I will be explaining each Capsule below, about how to use them effectively.

• Its the foremost capsule as its the most used capsule as most of the content you put in, is text.
  

• This capsule forms Heart of Hub - "The TEXT"

• After finishing writing text in the capsule you should Click " SAVE " button on top of it

Any way, hubpages has got automatic "Save Draft" feature to save your work if in case any error occurs & you can recover it from bottom bar of capsule, later)

Used to put any photo in hub.

• You can upload images from your computer or link directly from web. Both options are self explanatory.

• You should only use those images that have no copyright issues or you have taken permission to do so.

• Images can be styled - Without border,With Border,Thumbnail or Slideshow.

• Its better to use Slideshow style, when one needs to showcase 5 or more related images in one hub.

Used to put a Video into the hub.

• Video is always a good way to put forward things, when they are lengthy
• Adds life to a hub, which is generally considered a "TEXT" to be read.
• Makes the Reader remain interested in reading the whole hub.

I am adding a Non related Video below Just to prove the "POWER" of a Video. E.g. The following laughter riot will Cheer you in whatever mood you are. Enjoy :P

Used to Link other webpages from your hub.

• One of the essential & commonly used capsule.

• You can link as many links from one Link Capsule as you want.

• Each Link can be edited for it Link Title and Desciption as one requires it to appear in Hub.

You can also Link a webpage directly within a text(without link capsule) but that is bit advanced and will be explained in Part 3 - Advanced.

Used to add News content available regarding specific topic/keyword, which you want to appear in your hub.

• Adds automatic updates of related news headlines compiled from different sources.
• Its generally good to add, if writing about a vast or common topic/issue.
• A way to add content to a short hub. But over-exploiting this will make your reputation suffer.

RSS means "Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary" & is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Read More About RSS HERE & RSS Capsules HERE

• Adds automatic updates of related RSS Feed which you add.
  
• Less commonly used, but important to refer to a RSS Feed which updates fast.
• Use only related RSS Feed (to hub content) & which is usually active (active site/blog etc).
  
• A way to add related content to a short hub. But over-exploiting it will make your reputation suffer.

Used to allow readers to express their opinion. It can be anything but generally related to either hub or hub topic.

• Most commonly used & essential capsule.
• Best way to involve readers, as yet & take their feedback about hub.
  
• Option of reviewing comments first (to moderate) or allow publication directly to your hub.
• Critical or Constructive criticism should be dealt humbly, if any.
• Best capsule to make Hubpages a more better place. Cheers :)

Used to put a poll campaign into your hub to seek reader opinions, generally relating to hub topic.

• One of the best tools to take feedback or virtually interact with readers.
• Give better & varied choices to readers to make this really successful.
  
• Generally, place it after main hub content to get real opinions.
• Not used commonly. But i think, should be used upto its good potential.

Used to offer links to products & services that relate to your Hub that are for sale on eBay.

• If someone clicks on the link & purchases the item a commission is earned. The capsule is continuously updated with new listings that best match the search term.
  
• Unwanted items can be excluded with the addition of search terms to exclude with a - sign (e.g. "car -new").
• Before using, dont forget to add an eBay affiliate ID to your HubPages Affiliate Settings [HERE] to earn commisions.

Used to offer links to products & services that relate to your Hub that are for sale on Amazon.

• If someone clicks on the link & purchases the item a commission is earned.
• 2 unique ways to select/showcase products.
