HubPages for Dummies A to Z - Part 1

Well, firstly Heartiest regards to all. I think I have started with a big and great community which will be transforming into my 2nd home in coming time. After watching so many people getting so successful here, i also thought of the same, when a friend of mine introduced me to HUBPAGES !

Frankly, when I first joined, it was bit difficult for me to start ; mostly to find & assimilate huge info from so many hubs & may be that's why it took a bit long for me to publish my first one. So i hope, i can help others (esp. newbies) by putting up almost everything at one place, so that they can join us making HubPages a Great Place.

( B ) Put up your PROFILE . Goto My Profile in Top Bar/DashBoard. Be yourself, Be original. Originality shines forever like a diamond.

Your profile carries links to your Hubs & many other details & this adds to your Hub traffic, when someone visits it. So start now.

( C ) READ few Popular HUBS. You will get the feel about hubs & writing style. Even if you are a writer or experienced in writing skills, there will always be something to learn from HUBS with high Hub Score ( More about this later )

( D ) Do some HUBTIVITY (Hub + Your Activity)

Simply, your Hubtivity link tracks all the activity on HubPages by you. Its fun to be involved in doing Hubtivity

Precisely, all New Hubs, New comments on Hubs or in the Forums, New Requests, Milestones and related Administrator actions can be seen on Hubtivity link.

Best First thing to do is JOIN HUBBER FAN Clubs

You will find many hubbers out of the above best hubbers list who are really good at writing hubpages esp. with their views and expertise about the topic they hub about.You would definitely like to be a fan of many of those.Of course this tells hubber that you liked the hub & provides appreciation to him/her to write more good Hubs :)

Instead of searching, you can directly search hubs within a Tag (Subject wise Classification)

TAGS are nothing but just categories set to classify hubs. Tags range from Finance, Dinner, Cellphone to Music, Family & Sex according to varied interests of hubbers. Best Part, this way you will find hubbers who write about specific topics or issues, you are interested in & share & interact with your comments in their hubs.

( E ) GET ORIENTED to how those Popular Hubs are framed or written. Look around the hub to know its various features, etc. I Will tell you about What a Good Hub is about later.

This is the stuff that will Make you Earn Money from Hubpages.The first 4 will help you earn from your hubs & last 1 will tell you A to Z about your Hub Traffic & important trends.

After signup, just insert the signup ids in respective fields in My Hubs > Your Account > My Affiliate Settings Page.

( G ) Goto MyAccount to know All the various Settings associated with a Hubber. Its a kind of, Central Control Center. See below.

So All Control Settings are on Top & divided into-

YOUR HUB SETTINGS

• Statistics : Lists every hub, its Hubscore(Details in Part 3), Page Impressions (how many times it has been viewed; Time period wise), Comments associated, Traffic trend (Whether increasing or decreasing)
• Traffic Sources : Lists the top 30 sites that are referring traffic to your hubs with Time period wise page view impressions.
• Broken Links : Lists any non -working links present in any of your hubs.
• Malicious Links: Lists any Malicious Link found in your hubs based on THIS criteria.
  
• Groups : This involves categorizing your hubs into groups, so that its easy for you & readers to navigate through your work. It shows up well in your Profile page.
• Categories : New feature; Categorizes all hubs on hubpages like you do for your "Groups".
• IdeaBank: Getting short of ideas to write hubs about? Take a look here for some great ideas that Hubpages Team expect to do well in searches and drives traffic overall from readers.
  
• Comments On: Lists the various comments made by readers of your hubs for moderation.

YOUR ACCOUNT SETTINGS

• Your Profile : Already explained.
• Affliate Settings : Already explained.

YOUR INTERACTION

• Questions : Lists any questions asked to to you by other hubbers for a hub on specific topic and any Questions you have asked.

• Comments You Made : Lists all hubs where you have commented upon with some associated stats.
• Fan Mail: Enjoy reading your all old Fan mail here and Accept/Deny the new ones.

• Bookmarks : Lists hubs you have bookmarked. Can be grouped under folders.
